Ryan Statement on Nomination of Jack Lew for OMB Director

WASHINGTON – House Budget Committee Ranking Republican Paul Ryan (WI) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s nomination of Jack Lew to serve as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget [OMB]:

“I applaud President Obama for nominating Jack Lew – an experienced and well-qualified selection – to serve as the next OMB Director.  Jack has consistently demonstrated a pragmatic approach to tackling challenges and getting things done.  The grave threat posed by our looming fiscal crisis will require leaders to chart a new course and get a grip on the explosion of government spending.  I anticipate a spirited debate on how to lift this crushing debt burden, and am hopeful we can find a constructive way forward to address this challenge.”
