As Americans Suffer in Biden’s Inflation Recession, Democrats Prioritize Hundreds of Billion for Green New Deal
The country is in a recession. American families are facing a $5,900 inflation tax this year while their real wages are down five percent. But rather than address that crisis, Washington Democrats are focusing their attention on their Green New Deal (GND) agenda which will do nothing to alleviate the pain and suffering families are facing today and will only exacerbate inflation. Over 50 percent of the new government spending in the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” – that just passed the Senate and Democrats are lining up to vote for in the U.S. House of Representatives – is on Green New Deal policies. In fact, the terms “environment” and “green” are mentioned more than 7 times as often as “inflation” in the text of the bill. “Whether Washington Democrats call their agenda Build Back Better or the Inflation Reduction Act, the plan has always been the same: push through the Green New Deal and make middle-class taxpayers pay for it,” said House Budget Committee Republican Leader Jason Smith (MO-08). “The bill that just passed the Senate and awaits action in the House is little more than a long list of liberal wish list spending items coupled with a slew of budget gimmicks and tax increases on American families and businesses. More than $400 billion – over half of the spending proposed in the legislation – goes to advance the Green New Deal. While American taxpayers are paying billions to make Post Office vehicles, government buildings, and corporate offices more ‘green’, they’ll also continue to pay a premium for the goods and services they actually want and need because this bill does nothing to address the Biden inflation crisis.” At $400+ billion in spending, the list of GND items includes:
- $1.5 billion for “tree planting” – a.k.a. “tree equity”
- $250 billion for Department of Energy loans…Remember Solyndra?
- $3 billion for Environmental and Climate Justice
- $1 billion for “clean” heavy-duty vehicles, like garbage trucks
- $3 billion for U.S. Postal Service “Clean Fleets”
- $1.3 billion to boost resale values of luxury EVs so the wealthy can sell their old cars
- $7.5 billion for new luxury EVs so wealthy families making upwards of $300,000 can buy their new cars
- $27 billion for national climate bank – a.k.a. “EPA slush fund”
